Dajon Love came up with a career in the NFL, for years reinforced the fictional biography of posts and videos, and then achieved an unexpected effect: Google and AI services themselves began to represent the American player San Francisco 49ers. The women checked the new acquaintance through the Internet, found confirmation of his stories and trusted Lava money. According to the investigation, in four years the afer brought about 1.3 million dollars.

The U.S. Federal Prosecutor's Office charged Dajeon Labrae Love and 18-year-old Taylor Jamie Chan in conspiracy to e-fraud and the most electronic fraud. The FBI has identified at least 26 victims and suggests that the actual number of victims may be higher. The investigation links with the scam of women from Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California.

The scheme has been operating since February 2022 and has combined romantic fraud with bogus investments. Most of Love's potential victims found through Tinder, Bumble, Hinge and Facebook Dating, struck relationships, demonstrated financial success and gradually translated the conversation to investment. One woman Love was represented by the wealthy receiver of San Francisco 49ers, others told about a rich Swiss family who earned a fortune on real estate.

The main pillar of the legend was a carefully created image on the Internet. Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn featured photos and videos in 49ers' outfit, footage of expensive cars, jewelry and luxury items. Investigators found records where Love trained in the shape of a team and filmed a copy of the 49ers helmet. Some of the materials belonged to the real players of the NFL: Lav kept foreign videos, cleaned up the information about the authors and published records so that the audience took others' trainings and trips for episodes of his own sports career.

Love produced even a video with the alleged signing of the contract with the 49ers and spread a detailed history of getting into the NFL. Three videos with stories about sports career, luxury life and the origin of the condition were sent out approximately 185 times, including potential victims. After blocking accounts due to complaints, Love created new pages under other names. In correspondence with Chan, the investigators also found a discussion of the purchase of subscribers who were supposed to make new profiles more convincing.

Over time, the fictional biography went beyond the accounts of Lava. According to the FBI, the interlocutors tried to check Lava through the Internet, but the search engines and artificial intelligence systems sometimes really called the American player 49ers. In January 2026, FBI officers conducted their own search and obtained similar results. In the case file, the screenshot of Google on the request “Daejon Love 49ers” was preserved, where among the results there was a LinkedIn profile indicating the position of the NFL receiver and the TikTok video associated with the San Francisco 49ers.

Love turned the erroneous issue into further proof of his legend. In one of the published videos, the American demonstrated the AI-response of Google, where the service called Dageon Lava the receiver of San Francisco 49ers and gave information about the contract, positions and teammates. Love stressed that the information shows Google, and the absence on the field explained the injury. Representatives for the NFL and San Francisco 49ers later confirmed to investigators that Love had never worked for either the club or the league.

One image of a successful athlete to receive money was not enough, so Chan portrayed the financial advisor Lava. Potential investors were connected to the three-way calls of FaceTime, where Chan showed rigged results of investments and told about profitable strategies. Love convinced women that Chan allegedly turned the initial 300 thousand dollars into a state of 17 million dollars and is able to achieve a similar result for new customers.

Applications were used to demonstrate wealth, allowing you to show any bank balance. The investigators found Fake Bank Account Pro, with the help of which Love showed an account of more than 30 million dollars. The demo version of the Pocket Option trading platform, where you can work with virtual means, was also in progress. The FBI noticed the same investment account identifier in images sent to different women, although the names of the owners and the sums on the screen changed.

After the first fictitious profits of the victims were persuaded to invest more. Love has advertised accelerated accounts capable of allegedly doubling or tripling capital in a few days or weeks. In the absence of free money, Love helped to issue consumer loans and assured that the income would allow to repay the debt even before the first payment.

The scale of individual losses shows how far the scheme went. One woman invested 45 thousand dollars, later lent Lava another 19.5 thousand dollars and helped to arrange the leasing of McLaren worth about 250 thousand dollars. A fake settlement sheet with a salary of about 50 thousand dollars per month was used for approval of the transaction. After the return of the car, the woman had to pay 30 thousand dollars for the termination of the contract, and the total damage was estimated at 87.5 thousand dollars.

The other victim issued two loans totalling 17.2 thousand dollars after the promise to double or triple investments in 10 days. Another woman first handed over 10 thousand dollars, saw on the screen a fictitious profit, and then took a loan of 31 thousand dollars for a new account, which allegedly had to triple the capital. After questions about the refund, Love stopped communicating. In one of the episodes, the pressure turned into threats of physical death, after which the victim received an injunction.

Women trusted not only accounts and photos. Love met with potential victims in person, came on expensive cars, wore decorations, showed sports equipment and represented Chan by video link. One woman, barely caught in the scheme, saw in Instagram about 85 thousand subscribers and received video allegedly from the dressing room 49ers, but checked the legend through the familiar real player of the club. The football player did not remember Lava, either mainly in the composition, nor in the training team, after which the woman stopped communicating.

The FBI detained Lava and Chan on August 24 at Boise Airport in Idaho. Investigators believe Love came to the state to meet with new potential victims. From July 15, before his detention, Love had time to visit New Mexico, California, Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Idaho, and used the names of John Love, Dayjon Love, Avril Lito Love and Jordan Love.

The case file shows the weakness of the usual identity check through the Internet. False profiles, stolen content, numerous publications and artificial popularity have shaped a digital footprint that search engines and AI have begun to perceive as proof of biography. As a result, the services by which women tried to test a new friend only strengthened confidence in fictional history in some cases. The criminal case is still at the stage of the prosecution, so the guilt of Lava and Chan must be established by the court.
